Black and White...

This is my Matthew. It's either this or that and nothing in between. In the morning rush out the door for school he's telling me all about his library book which was on the kitchen counter. Except we're not out the door yet, and he's telling me how his book NEEDS TO STAY IN HIS BACKPACK.

me: well, we're home now so you don't have to leave it in there.

MJ: but mom, my teacher said it HAD to stay in my backpack.

me: I know, but we're home so you can leave it here until we need to return it.

MJ: but you have to leave in your backpack just in case you have a dog and it BITES the book (as he's putting the book in his mouth)

me: (stifiling a laugh) well, we don't have a dog.

MJ: or a BABY may scribble on it!

realizing there was no hope for me at this point, I said, okay well, then I guess you better keep it in your bag. Never mind that we don't have a dog and that our baby is starting to ROLL OVER (yeah!) not sit at the table and scribble in books.

That's my boy! :)

  1. What exciting days you are having with school. I love the tradition you are carrying on, having Matthew make his own lunch. Might as well, and look how proud he is to do that. Isn't that a good idea to have a welcome Matthew to kindergarten be planted in your yard? Very neat. Ella Jane is a hoot. What a fun and funny little girl. Tell me about her pre-school. How many days a week does she go and for how long. There must be times when you have Sara all to your self. She really does remind me of Matthew in some of those shots. Mom
